Volunteerism & Giving

We work side-by-side with our neighbors every day to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. To do our important work, the Y relies on support from members, donors, volunteers and community leaders.

When you are involved with the Y, you help bring about lasting personal and social change. Whether you want to nurture the potential of children and teens, improve your or your family’s health and well-being, or give back and support your neighbors, your involvement with the Y will positively impact those in your community.

Donating to the Y

When you give to the Y, your gift will have a meaningful, enduring impact right in your own neighborhood. The Y is in your community to give everyone an opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. – Add link to Donate page

Annual Campaign

The Annual Campaign is a fundraising program of the YMCA which allows the YMCA to scholarship children and families into membership in their local Ys and into programs year-round.

Volunteering

When you volunteer at the Y, you take an active role in bringing about meaningful, enduring change right in your own neighborhood. Our YMCA can always use more helping hands. At the Y, you can coach a sports team, help teach a child to read, or raise funds through our We Build People Campaign to ensure the Y is accessible to everyone in our community. Don’t you want to help us make a positive difference in your neighborhood?

We provide a variety of volunteer opportunities that can fit your interests and schedule.

Sports Coaches

Use your talents to encourage, guide and train young athletes at the Y. We rely on volunteer coaches to lead our year-round sports leagues. Programs include a wide variety of sports including swimming, basketball, indoor soccer and flag football. Contact the Y near you to see how you can get in the game.

Tutorial Programs

Through creative activities and guided homework sessions, help a child develop the skills they need to succeed in school and in life. You can provide one-on-one mentoring or tutor a small group of students through our Y afterschool programs.

Special Events

The Danville Family YMCA is always on the go. Check our Events calendar for volunteer opportunities for Healthy Kids Day, Girls on the Run 5K, Senior Pot Luncheon and swim meets and other events throughout the year.

Annual Campaign Volunteer

Our annual support campaign is a community-wide effort to raise funds for children, teens, families and adults who need the Y. More than 1,400 local volunteers help raise funds so that everyone has the opportunity to participate in Y programs.
