Pickleball

A fun sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong. It is played on a badminton court with a low net. Pickleball is easy for beginners, and is becoming one of the fastest-growing sports. It is played with a ball similar to a whiffle ball and a wood or composite paddle.

The pickleball court is available in our air conditioned small gym on Wednesdays from 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. It is also available anytime the small gym is open (not during scheduled fitness classes, after school care time, or reserved gym time), but set up and tear down is on the participants. Check with the front desk for other availability.

BASIC PICKLEBALL RULES

The five most basic pickleball rules are:
1. Serving must be underhand from the baseline,
diagonally crosscourt, and the serve cannot
land in the no-volley zone (kitchen).
2. The serving player/team must let the return of
serve bounce.
3. The ball must stay in bounds during play and
bounce no more than once per side.
4. Players cannot hit the ball in the air when in
the kitchen.
5. Games are played to 11, win by two. Points are
only scored by the serving player/team.
There are more rules to the game, but these five
will help you to get started. Have fun!
